Suzuki Puts a Teensy-Weensy Boot on the New Swift for India

Different markets, different needs and different tastes. While the rest of the world is content with the 3- and 5-door body styles of the Suzuki Swift, in India, the Japanese company along with its local partner Maruti has also been offering a sedan version under the Dzire nameplate (apparently, a "hip" misspelling of the word "desire") since 2008. The presentation of the latest generation of the Swift hatchback in late 2010 brought the development of a new Swift Dzire, a test drive version of which was caught on camera by a reader of Indianautosblog, a couple of weeks (if not days) before the official launch. We don't have any official information in our hands yet, but it looks like Suzuki has kept the same wheelbase as the hatch simply extending the rear overhang and adding a tiny boot. While the Swift hatch is a good-looking supermini, we can't say the same about the Dzire as the result is somewhat cartoonish – and that's probably an understatement. Suzuki's designers also made some mild changes to the front grille and bumper design, while the engine lineup is expected to be carried over from the Swift hatchback.
